Virtual Dignity
Welcome to Dignity Virtual Village

Dignity is a formerly mobile tent city in Portland, Oregon, well on its way to becoming a green, sustainable, urban village. It is home for people who might otherwise inhabit doorways and sidewalks. Dignity provides a peaceful community, a clean environment, a center, and safety.

Why have a "tent city" in Portland?
A little of the drive and history behind our project.

What we propose to do

This is our new proposal as submitted to the City in the Autumn of the year 2003.

On June 3rd, 2001 at a "teach-in" held at the First Unitarian Church, Dignity Village unveilled its proposal for a permanent village site. The proposal has met with mixed reactions from city officials. Take a look at the proposal for yourself.

Desirable attributes of the village.
The Visioning team has been working on creating a vision of what we want our campground to be. We have brainstormed and come up with a list of qualities we hope will shape what our camp is and will be.
