Chrysler Chelle became a member of the Village in 2003 after living on the streets in Portland and California for nearly three years. At the Village, she has served as head of Security, and is currently on the Building Committee, coordinating and helping to build over 29 houses. She has a strong focus on promoting the Village’s efforts to achieve self-sustainability in an eco-friendly way. Chelle has been a leader in many ways at the Village; one of her qualities as a leader lies in her active efforts to seek fair and equitable treatment of others in Village self-governance. She has also been a strong role model for those Villagers recovering from addictions, as she herself has recovered from former drug addictions. Chelle has been an active participant in the development of the Toolkit. She has provided narration, participated in feedback sessions on working drafts, and was a panelist at the Tent Cities Toolkit outreach event, participating in discussion about the role of Dignity Village and the Tent Cities Toolkit in addressing homelessness.
