Here's the Latest update on our common area, We were able to get most of the roof installed, before the rains hit us. We installed the upper windows and installed the roof support for the new wood stove from Buck's Stove Palace East side. They came out and figured up what we needed to install the stove and had it all ready to be installed when we were ready for it. As things turned out, it was installed in the nick of time as weather turned toward winter fast here. With nearly 60 people living here, having a warm place to go to is a blessing for many here. We now have a place to hold our meetings in, and a place to have meals at and a stove to heat up meals any time in the day.

You may tell from the picture above, some of the building lumber is new and some of it is old but it works. We do our best to use recycled lumber when we can. We got a 700 dollar check yesterday (01-18-08) to go towards buying Insulation for the inside, and maybe some T 1-11 siding for the outside. Its kinda like building it as you have materials to build and you stop and wait. For myself and better half the house we are living in is only a 10 x 12. It took about a month to build. It is fully insulated and sheet rocked inside and has some good used cabinets in it. The siding was installed and painted along with the trim, ( now gray and white ) about 5 months latter. We didn't have much to work with, when we started it last January 26th. Some one donated about 100 new 2 x 4 x 10' a few days before. We had a lot of used plywood and metal roofing from some old building that was torn down that we recycled, but no 2x4's at all. We still have a lot of houses to build. There are about 22 decks left to be built from. The tarp covered deck to a house that's live able ( insulated and sheet rocked ) takes about two weeks to 1 month or longer if we don't have all the materials.

Here is a list of wood and things we can use. New and used is fine as long as its still reusable sizes

We are still needing a few things to finish up the common area, like R-30 24 inch wide insulation for the roofs and R-21 16 inch for the walls. Plus 70 sheets (4x8) 1/2 inch dry wall, and 75 sheets (4x8) 3/8 T-1 11 siding for the outside . If you can help please let us know. Thank You .

Building Supplies we are still in need of :

  • 16 penny nails

  • 8 penny nails

  • felt paper 30 weight

  • Metal or comp roofing ( three tab )
